HOPE
HOPE
Last weekend I took my kids to see the movie Catching Fire. If you haven't read or seen any of the "Hunger Games" books or movies, it is about an oppressive government that keeps the surrounding districts of people in control by using fear. One girl is thrown into the spotlight and becomes a beacon of hope for the people. The leader of the Capitol has a line in the movie that said something to the effect that if the people have hope, they would be unstoppable. This got me thinking about where our hope lies and how the movie would make a great sermon illustration.
This past Sunday Pastor Jones began the Advent season with a message of hope. Advent is a time we focus and remember the promise that Jesus will return in power and glory. A time to remember we have hope because Jesus came to give us salvation. Isaiah prophesied about Jesus' coming in Isaiah 40. John the Baptist prophesied about Jesus' coming in John 1. Prepare the way of the Lord....
Psalm 62:5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
Jesus gives us hope. He Humbly came to Offer People Eternity. The Bible is a love letter from our Heavenly Father which points us to HOPE - Jesus! This is something we need to remember and share every day of the year. Our hope in Jesus is unstoppable!!!
Zechariah 9:9 " ...See, your King comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey...."
