Daily Bread, Daily Relationship







God is expecting our unexpected.
"and when they measured it by the omer, he who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little. Each one gathered as much as he needed." Exodus 16:18
God is in control even when we think we are :) and He gives us each exactly what we need daily. Our part of the equation is to simply be in Him, "gather" Him, read the Word. Trust Him! He knows what we need - better than we do.
That leads us to point two...
Daily bread is about daily relationship.
Think about The Lord's Prayer: Give us this day our daily bread. Did you always think it was just about food? It is and it isn't.... God knows our basic human needs, like food, but He also says "man cannot live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4 God was using the manna that kept the Israelites alive in the desert to point to Christ, the bread of life, and they didn't even realize it! The forty years the Israelites wandered around in the desert was to bring them relationally to God, to trust Him and only Him. God gave them what they asked for and so much more!
His grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.  2 Corinithians 12:9 
Our objections to God's daily approach are rooted in pride and fear.
Pride because we want to be self sufficient and fear that God won't come through. Fear that we aren't valuable to God. We are so used to beating ourselves up and being let down by others that I think it is hard for us to believe God loves us with a perfect and unconditional love.
What does that look like???
It looks like manna from heaven. Look up!
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
